Comfort Inn Arcata

The staff were friendly, parking spacious, and the room had tea/coffee facilities and a fridge. There is a large indoor swimming pool and hot tub. There is a fitness room, but be sure to read comments below.

The fitness room was marginal with the treadmill not working at all, the recumbent bike being a well-worn home-use machine, and the stack machine being, frankly, in an unsafe condition with frayed cables and broken pulleys. One has to be pretty serious about working out to choose to work on this equipment. The room was a bit small and the AC unit very noisy.

Room was nice, I got a free upgrade because the room I originally booked had been dismantled for remodeling and the night clerk was not made aware of it until I found it that way.

Well the above mentioned remodeling recomenced the next morning earlier than I would have liked. In fact there was no warning of the noise of demolition from the night staff; aside from a cryptic note taped to the check in desk. I might say it was quite disturbing to wake up to the very loud crashing, banging and yelling.

Location

The room charge was $352.00, nearly $100.00 over rack rate (amount posted on room door, which is maximum by state law CA Penal Code 1863). They refused to adjust the charge and I had to contact their corporate offices to get my bill reduced to the maximum they were legally allowed to charge customers.

The location was good and stunning - within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go.

Bed was adequate, close but not too close to 101 so it was quiet.

Shabby room, broken sink, signs say renovation but no actual sign of work being done. Grossly overpriced - a real rip-off, using the fact of university graduation to TRIPLE rates per night.

Breakfast was great and the parking and WiFI were also very good.

The hotel was surprisingly threadbare and worn. The room had an unpleasant order even after the second day. The table and chairs for the "desk" in the room weren't comfortable.

Could've of used a little more shampoo siince there were 5 of us in one room. Asked for more but was given a small amount. (penny worth.)

I have just returned from a really really nice stay in this brand-new hotel, modern rooms. The restaurant food is good, and the breakfast offered is savoury with instant coffee and pastry, for example.

For a Wydham member I was disappointed in the condition of the facility I expect better.

The lack of vegetation like grass! No outside facilities like a Sps pool!

Phone call at midnight saying there had been a medical issue in my room. Apparently a crank call from another guest but super annoying. The walls are paper thin and can hear even normal conversations from other rooms.

I recently stayed and loved the large room with a living area and the free breakfast was delicious! The overall cleanliness was impressive. I would choose this place again!

Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Staff was courteous. Breakfast has improved, very good.

Pool closed for repairs. Night clerk did not know hours of breakfast. Key repeatedly would not open room door-had to go have it reprogrammed several times. Shower seat below recommended height for handicapped access.
